Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy students celebrate GCSE results

 Students at Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy are celebrating after receiving their GCSE results. The academy are delighted to see sustained progress in students’ results and are particularly thrilled with the improvements made in the number of A*- A grades achieved.

Key academic subjects such as English, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, French and Spanish have all seen significant increases in the number of higher grades awarded, as have Business, ICT, Media and Drama.

The academy was also thrilled to see improvements in attainment for its Special Educational Needs students and a decrease in the attainment gap between boys and girls.

 

The academy which is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted saw some outstanding individual academic achievements, including:

Kian Cushman who achieved a phenomenal   5A* grades at GCSE in Triple Science, Mathematics and French, as well as 5 A grades and one B grade. 

Lewis Dwyer who achieved 6A* grades, in History, Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Triple Science, as well as a Distinction * grade in Drama, 3 A grades and a B grade.

Hannah Smith also celebrates today, achieving 4A* grades in Triple Science and Business, as well as 4 A grades a two B grades and a C.

 

Paula Arrowsmith, Principal at Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy, said:

 "I am delighted to celebrate so many student successes today.  There have been particular improvements in the percentages of boys achieving higher grades this year, and this was also reflected in our outstanding KS5 results this year.”
