This year Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy worked with Humanutopia – a company who track record in helping teenagers become strong positive role models for younger children - to deliver an exciting two-week summer school programme.

HARmony Camp was attended by 120 pupils from our new Year 7 – with priority places given to Pupil Premium students -  with a focus on three values; Honesty, Awareness and Responsibility.
The Year 7 pupils were placed into 16 Home-Groups led by a Hero (a year 9 or 10 student who had become a peer-mentor with Humanutopia) who undertook a Home-Group leader role.
The Home-Group leader became a mentor and confidante for many of the Year 7 pupils, offering advice and information about life at Shelfield and becoming role models for the much younger students.
The relationships that were developed were often shared via the snitch board, where all students (both Heroes and Year 7) were able to express their gratitude, praise effort or share positive experiences.
“HARmony Camp was brilliant!  I loved working with #teamheroes, I've made so many new friends" Beth Healey

"HARmony Camp helped me to feel more confident about starting Shelfield.  The teachers were really lovely and I enjoyed the activities." Mason Falmer
