Careers in year 8
You will have to make your subject choices for GCSE. It is important that you keep as broad a range of subjects as possible over and above the core subjects.
If you or your parents would like some help with these decisions, then make an appointment to see Miss Woodhouse.
PSHE – Careers education
You will continue to do careers related learning in your PSHE lessons during form-time, where you will complete a STEPS for Year 8 work-booklet and you will cover topics such as:
- Your personal beliefs
- Making decisions
- Writing an action plan
Guided choices/options workshop
You will take part in a Guided Choices/Options workshop in relation to Careers. You will be given advice on how to choose options and complete activities to help you to start thinking about options and choices in relation to future careers. You will complete a series of activities, a personalised careers quiz and you will start to do some careers research on the ‘I Could’ website.
You will visit the Careers Fair in school, which can be a perfect opportunity to discuss options choices with employers and universities for more advice in relation to your future career aspirations.
