The academy pauses for Remembrance
In the week leading up to Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, students from each year group listened to an Assembly by Mr Thomas, fom the History Department. He explained why, as a country, we hold this annual event, the meaning and the history behind it. This year, he also incorporated the 'Remember Together' campaign from the Royal British Legion and brought our attention to the many brave people who lost their lives from the Commonwealth and allied nations.
Our remembrance culminated in the whole school assembling on the field for a two-minute silence on Monday 11th November, whilst we listened to The Last Post played live. This, as always was a very poignant moment and a chance for all of us to remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom we enjoy today.
The academy raised £395.89 for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and we are proud to support this great cause.
