September- October 2019

There have been a number of events taking place at the academy during the first half term. These include:

  • Performance in Education productions of Tough on Tobacco to all of Year 8 students, and Streetwise to all of Year 7. These performances included Q&A sessions for students to discuss the storylines they had watched.
  • The National Theatre performed The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. This was a phenomenal production and an excellent opportunity for students in Years 9-13 to watch a live, professional performance of the critically acclaimed play.
  • Staff dressed in pink for Wear it Pink Day to raise money in the fight for Breast Cancer care and support.
  • Year 9 students watched a performance of Gothic Man, arranged by the English department.
  • Students have entered a competition as part of Black History Month run by the history department to supplement lessons on the topic.
