Students at Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy Celebrate GCSE Results
Students and staff at Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy are celebrating today after receiving their GCSE results – with significant improvements across the board.
The proportion of students who gained a Grade 4 or above (defined by the Government as a pass) in English and maths was 54% - an impressive 5% increase on last year’s figure.
In English alone, 66% of students achieved a Grade 4 or higher and 62% gained a 4 or better in maths - both increasing by 5% again, compared to the previous year. The percentage of students who achieved the higher Grade 5 or above in English alone was 47% - a 7% improvements on the 2018 figures.
Results in other GCSE subjects were also positive, with students achieving especially well in BTEC Sport, with several students securing a Distinction*. Other subjects with impressive results included Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Combined Science, Geography BTEC Music and BTEC Media.
There were also strong individual performances from:
Samantha S who secured four Grade 9s and three Grade 8s, as well as an A* in Finance and a Distinction in Health and Fitness.
Joe Stevenson who secured four Grade 9s, two Grade 8s, a Grade 7 and an A in Finance.
Niamh Disorgher who secured one Grade 9 and six Grade 8s, as well as an A in Finance.
Arna-Lea Parkes who secured one 9, three 8s, a 7 and an A in Finance.
