Students at Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy Celebrate GCSE Results
Students at Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy are celebrating today after receiving their GCSE results – with improvements in key subjects achieved.
The proportion of students who gained a Grade 4 or above in English and maths was 49%, and the percentage who achieved the higher Grade 5 or above in both subjects was 26% - both scores are improvements on the 2017 figures. In English alone, 61% achieved a Grade 4 (defined by the Government as a pass) and 56% gained a 4 in maths.
Results in other GCSE results were also positive, with students achieving especially well in Textiles, Drama, Health and Social Care, Art, Media, Sociology, Music, Sport, Food and Business Studies.
There were also some fantastic individual success stories:
George Harrison achieved two Grade 8s in biology and maths, six Grade 7s in chemistry, English Language, English Literature, geography, physics, Spanish.
Jake Keen achieved two Grade 8s in English Literature and maths, one grade 7 in history, five Grade 6s in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, English Language and Spanish, and one Grade 5 in Physics and a B in Finance.
Bethany Mason and Jess Billingham achieved a Grade 9 in art and Grade 9 in English Literature.
Zahra Thakker and Charlotte Thornley both got a Grade 9 in art.
