Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy Celebrates Strong Exam Results
Students at Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy in Walsall are celebrating today after achieving excellent exam results, with the academy continuing its strong upward trajectory.
Across the A Level subjects, more than half of entries (52%) were graded at the higher levels of A* to C, and strong progress was made in many subjects, with high performances in English and maths, while good results were also achieved in business studies, art, biology, PE and sociology.
The average Applied General grade was Distinction, with students doing particularly well in media, business studies, performing arts, sport and ICT courses.
Disadvantaged students at the academy also performed particularly strongly, with average attainment increasing and seeing a significant improvement on last year’s results.
This is another excellent set of A Level results for the academy and its sixth form, which is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, and has been on a significant journey of improvement over the last five years.
Amongst the many achievements, some individual success stories from the day include:
Jess Berry who secured a place to study Drama, Theatre Studies and Psychology at Chester University, after achieving two Bs and a Distinction in Performing Arts BTEC
Thomas Hallett secured a place to study animation at Norwich University of Arts, after achieving B, C, a Distinction and Distinction *
Isobel Higgins will go on to study Psychology at Coventry University, after achieving three Bs
Katie Taylor will study English and Theatre Studies at Sheffield University after achieving A*, A and a Distinction
Ellie Williams secured a place to study Business Studies at Nottingham Trent University, achieving three Bs.
