Skills Show 2017

On Friday 17th November, Year 10 visited the UK's largest skills and careers event 'The Skills Show' at the NEC in Birmingham. The Skills Show hosted a range of employers, training providers, colleges and universities who were on hand to talk to students about future opportunities and career options. Students had the opportunity to take part in 'have a go' skills experiences and had the chance to gain information, advice and guidance from a range of career industry experts.

 

On Friday 17th November, Year 10 visited the UK's largest skills and careers event 'The Skills Show' at the NEC in Birmingham. The Skills Show hosted a range of employers, training providers, colleges and universities who were on hand to talk to students about future opportunities and career options. Students had the opportunity to take part in 'have a go' skills experiences and had the chance to gain information, advice and guidance from a range of career industry experts.

On the day, there were skills competitions taking place in a variety of industry specific careers including engineering, food preparation and hospitality, hairdressing and beauty and construction. Careers advice was also made available from the national careers service, who had IAG advisers offering independent and impartial careers advice to young people visiting the show.

There were employers representing all of the following industries:

  • Creative and Design
  •  Engineering and Technology
  • Digital and Business
  • Construction and Logistics
  • Health and Hospitality

Employers in attendance included; Amazon, The Royal Mail, Dyson, Jewson, Toyota, HS2, Siemens, Jaguar Land Rover, NHS, Nestle and Mitchells and Butlers, to name a few.
