Jarryd Dunn returns ‘home’ to share the story of his success
Former student Jarryd Dunn visits the academy to share his story of competiting on the world stage.
Jarryd Dunn, recent winner of a bronze medal at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing, returned to his school, Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy, last week.
He met students to talk about what it takes to get to the very top, delivering several assemblies through the morning. Jarryd is passionate in his desire to deliver the message that students and young people of Walsall can succeed. His message was incredibly well received.
Mr Riley, Senior Vice Principal, said,
“What’s immediately striking about Jarryd is that his talent is matched by a fierce determination to succeed. As a student at the academy, Jarryd was meticulous in his preparation for both his studies and his athletics. It’s therefore no surprise that he has enjoyed this recent success and all of us at Ormiston Shelfield are incredibly proud. Jarryd is a role model for young people and an example of how fruitful aspiration and goal setting can be.”
