At Shelfield, all registered pupils at the school are provided with independent careers advice and guidance from year 8 to year 13.

The independent careers guidance provided:

  •  Includes information on the range of education or training options, including apprenticeships and other vocational pathways
  • Is guidance that the aspiration leader considers will promote the best interests of the pupils to whom it is given

One to One Guidance

Aspirations interviews are given to 100% of students in Y11.  Year 12 and 13 have the opportunity for an interview according to need.

We work closely with the Prospects Service and Local Authorities to support the more vulnerable young people including those with special needs and who are disengaged.

Parents are also welcome to refer their child for guidance and support.  Please contact Miss Woodhouse – Aspirations Leader.

Employer Engagement
A planned programme of employer engagement that gives students the oppourtunity to hear directly from professionals and be inspired by role models. We work closely with the Inspiring the Future service and its network of volunteers from different professions and sectors to share their knowledge and experience with students.
