Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy’s media department were recently awarded the Good school’s guide Award 2015 in the following category: Best performance by Girls taking Media: Communication & Production at an English Comprehensive School (Applied GCE AS level).

The Year 12 students in 2014-15 achieved excellent results and exceeded their target grades.  These students are extremely conscientious about their work and have a real passion for the subject.  The criteria that the students had to meet is incredibly hard and a lot of hard work and understanding of the industry was required, as well as an ability to develop their practical skills by designing a sophisticated product that was based on raising awareness for young people on financial issues.

The girls are working well towards their A2 studies and we are hopeful that they will achieve the results needed for them to go on to University.

Helen Chadwick Head of Media commented “The Media department are extremely proud of the progress and high level of work that the girls submitted last year. They are determined individuals who are very conscientious as well as being eager to learn and develop their skills within the subject.  This award recognises not only the fantastic work that the Academy's students are capable of but also the worth of the creative subjects and how well pupils' respond to them".
